My mother was born in California, but her roots quickly reach back into the Lucca region of Tuscany in Northern Italy. Her pedigree chart shown below illustrates this pretty clearly.

Maria’s father, Vittorio (Victor) Buchignani’s family came from Carignano, a suburb north of the walled city of Lucca, while her mother Eva Giorgi’s parents came from the tiny hill town of Boveglio located about 15 miles to the northeast of Lucca.
